Unitree's Wang Xingxing: Faith in AI Strengthens; Biggest Past Lesson Was Insufficient Trust

On October 12, the opening ceremony of the 26th China International Industry Fair held a fireside chat session, during which Unitree Robotics founder, chairman, general manager, and chief technology officer Wang Xingxing shared his latest assessment of current AI technology progress and the pace of the embodied intelligence industry. Wang opened by judging that AI technology globally is advancing extremely rapidly, with major updates every one to two months. He particularly noted that since the release of GPT-6 some time ago, the improvement in understanding among embodied intelligence industry practitioners has also been very significant.

"We put it on various robots for all kinds of task testing, and the results are actually very good," Wang Xingxing stated directly at the event.

Based on this thread, he offered a forecast for the industry's pace that was markedly more optimistic than before. "Personally, I feel the arrival of the tipping point will still be relatively fast; at the fastest, it could even happen within one to two years, because next year GPT-7 comes out and may directly solve the embodied intelligence problem," Wang said. While offering an optimistic timeline, he also did not shy away from the practical constraints of current deployment. "Currently, our company and other robot companies are conducting deployment pilots in factories; indeed, for large-scale application, both generalization and efficiency still need further improvement.

But I think it is very likely to be solved in the next few years," Wang said.

Wang Xingxing's Faith in AI Technology Continues to Strengthen

This time, Wang Xingxing turned the conversation directly to himself. "My personal faith in AI grows with each passing year. The biggest mistake I've made over the past decade-plus is that I didn't believe in AI enough," he summarized at the event. Regarding the order of deployment, he also offered a differentiating judgment: "Commercial service deployment may be even faster than in the industrial sector."
