According to media reports, Mao Shengyong, spokesperson and deputy director of the National Bureau of Statistics, stated at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office that over 56,000 basic-level, more than 9,000 advanced-level, and over 500 outstanding smart factories have been established nationwide, with the application rate of key artificial intelligence technology scenarios in large-scale manufacturing exceeding 1/3. Among these, the 56,000 basic-level smart factories constitute the main scale of current smart manufacturing applications, while the number of advanced-level smart factories has reached over 9,000, and the number of outstanding smart factories has also surpassed 500.
The continuous expansion of the number of smart factories at different levels reflects that the digital and intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry has covered a considerable scale of production systems, while some enterprises are advancing towards higher levels of smart manufacturing capabilities.
Compared to the number of smart factories, the degree of penetration of artificial intelligence technology in actual production scenarios is more noteworthy. Mao Shengyong revealed that the application rate of key artificial intelligence technology scenarios in large-scale manufacturing has exceeded 1/3. This indicator pertains to key application scenarios of artificial intelligence in the manufacturing industry and does not equate to all manufacturing enterprises or all production processes having achieved AI integration. However, a penetration rate of over one-third indicates that AI technology is gradually moving from pilot applications in some enterprises into a broader range of actual production scenarios.
