The plan is to launch 30 backpack-sized CubeSats into a highly elliptical orbit around Earth over the next four years. This vast region extends from low Earth orbit to about 1.2 million miles (2 million kilometers) away.

International Collaboration and Observational Advantages

The participating countries include Egypt, Indonesia, Senegal, Serbia, and Thailand. Scientists have long relied on individual spacecraft to study this vast region, a method that has left many areas effectively unexplored because a single spacecraft can only observe from one location. With dozens of satellites simultaneously observing from different positions, researchers can track high-energy particles and magnetic disturbances from the Sun as they travel through the region, revealing how space weather evolves over time.
