South Korean mobility platform Kakao Mobility announced that, relying on artificial intelligence and data-driven parking technology, the time it takes for vehicles to exit parking facilities can be reduced by up to 20%. Kakao Mobility stated that as an official sponsor of the 2026 Gangneung Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) World Congress, it will showcase its technologies and research achievements in the field of AI and data-driven mobility, while also proposing the idea of upgrading parking facilities from mere vehicle storage spaces to smart infrastructure that manages urban traffic flow.
On October 22, during the congress held at the Gangneung Olympic Park, Kakao Mobility hosted an exclusive parking sponsorship session themed "Redefining Urban Parking: Connecting Smart City Infrastructure with AI and Data," moderated by Park Dong-joo, president of the Korean ITS Society, focusing on the technological evolution of the Kakao T parking platform and its impact on urban traffic.
Kakao Mobility's P&C Business Division Deputy Director Park Eun-soo reviewed the integration process of the parking platform with operations and facilities since the service launched in 2017, including features such as no-stop exit based on automatic payment and cloud monitoring technology, and shared a recent case of signing a proof of concept (PoC) contract with the smart city project in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
