Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a recent interview that with the release of the new Muse Wonder model, Meta has caught up to competitors at the forefront of artificial intelligence. Zuckerberg noted that the new system will be able to complete more complex tasks, reaching the most cutting-edge level currently achievable in the AI field.
According to sources, Muse Wonder will adopt a closed-source model, with its most powerful version sold directly to enterprises. This differs from Meta's previous open-source strategy in AI, marking an adjustment in the company's business model. Zuckerberg also hinted that Meta will further increase spending and said the company is already researching next-phase technology, with model development expected to accelerate significantly. This stance continues the line Meta has pursued in recent years of steadily increasing investment in AI infrastructure and R&D.
Meta's business model in AI undergoes change
On AI safety, Zuckerberg said relevant safety responsibilities should be borne by each lab individually. He mentioned that compared to the view of anthropomorphizing AI and believing it will act on its own, he prefers to believe AI is a technology that can be engineered through conventional safeguards and developed responsibly.
The release of Muse Wonder and Zuckerberg's latest remarks are seen as an important signal of Meta consolidating its position in the fiercely competitive AI field.
