Tesla has opened a shareholder question platform for its Q3 2026 earnings call, with the Say Q&A page currently listing questions. Investors can submit and vote on questions for management to answer until October 20 at 4:00 PM EDT. The call is scheduled for October 21 (Wednesday). Tesla will announce its results after the market closes and will livestream the event at 4:30 PM CT (5:30 PM ET) via its investor relations website. Say ranks questions based on the number of shares supporting the votes, giving institutional holders greater weight in the voting process compared to retail investors.
Questions of Interest to Retail Investors
Before the Q2 earnings report, retail investors inquired about the stagnation of Robotaxi growth, when Cybercab would begin offering rides to customers, and the development progress of Optimus Gen 3, while an institutional holder asked about the division of responsibilities for Terafab between Tesla and SpaceX. Cybercab has since responded to one of the questions. Last week, Tesla stated that there are currently over 300 Cybercabs in Austin, an increase of eight times, with Dallas being the next city.
Current questions seem to be shifting from "when" to "how fast." Additionally, the call will address an unresolved regulatory issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has requested sworn responses on how the pedal-less Cybercab will be certified according to federal safety standards, with a deadline of October 30, just nine days before the meeting. It remains unclear whether analysts will raise this question during the call, but such exposure often occurs during the Q&A segment.
Earnings Report and Regulatory Issues
Data will not be the main focus of this meeting. Tesla has reported a quarterly delivery volume of 486,532 vehicles and energy storage of 13.7 GWh. According to Zacks, the market consensus expects earnings per share to be around 43 to 45 cents, with total revenue approximately $27.8 billion, following a previous quarter where earnings per share did not meet expectations. Goldman Sachs holds a neutral rating with a target price of US$360 (approximately HK$2,808), believing that the prospects of Robotaxi, FSD, and Optimus will have a greater impact on stock prices than this quarter's earnings report.
The timing of this earnings call coincides with the Roadster event rescheduled for October 15, Thursday at 7:55 PM CT, which Tesla will livestream via the X platform. If the Roadster announces production dates or SpaceX booster kits during the event, it is expected to rapidly boost the ranking of votes before the deadline.
Market Focus of Tesla's Earnings Call
Tesla's earnings call is approaching, and the opening of the shareholder question platform demonstrates the company's emphasis on investor feedback. Retail investors are expressing concerns about the development of Robotaxi and Cybercab, indicating market expectations for autonomous driving technology. The emergence of regulatory issues also reflects challenges facing the industry, particularly regarding safety standard certifications. Furthermore, market expectations for the earnings report are not high, with analysts believing that future technological prospects will have a greater impact on stock prices, highlighting investors' focus on long-term growth.
