According to a Tesla press release (published by Zawya on September 17, 2026), the company has started rolling out its in-car AI companion Grok to eligible vehicles in the UAE. The feature is included in software version 2026.32.6 and is being offered free of charge with no additional fees.

The publication states that Grok, developed by SpaceX AI, can answer questions on topics such as physics, mathematics, biology, philosophy, and history. Inside the vehicle, it can handle voice commands for navigation (setting destinations, rerouting on the go, finding points of interest), making phone calls, searching for songs or podcasts, and adjusting the air conditioning. It can also provide explanations based on the owner's manual, offering operational advice, maintenance tips, and explanations for dashboard alerts.

Users can activate Grok via the steering wheel or touchscreen and choose modes such as Assistant, Language Tutor, Therapist, Storyteller, Meditation, Doc, Conspiracy, as well as child-oriented options like Kids Story Time and Kids Trivia Game. Voice/persona options include Ara, Eve, Leo, Rex, and Sal.

Eligible models include the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck. Activation requires Premium Connectivity or a stable Wi-Fi connection. The publication states that conversations with Tesla are anonymous and not tied to the vehicle, and it notes that the company plans to continue deepening integration through free over-the-air updates in the future.
