On the eve of the Network X 2026 conference, Qualcomm unveiled four next-generation AI-based broadband communication products. The technologies announced include a next-generation AI gateway, an intelligent software framework, a high-speed wireless wide-area distribution network and backhaul transport platform, and a fixed wireless access platform. These solutions all combine on-device AI computing with communication network intelligence technologies, building an intelligent processing architecture across the entire communication network chain to improve response speed and security levels while simplifying operators' operations and maintenance processes.
Qualcomm launches multiple AI-based broadband communication products
Qualcomm's next-generation AI gateway is powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing N Pro A8 Elite platform, featuring a synchronous quad-band Wi-Fi 8 wireless system, a five-core central processor, and a system-on-chip with a high-performance Qualcomm Hexagon neural network processor. Serving as the connection hub between external internet lines and internal networks, the gateway simultaneously functions as both a modem and a router. Leveraging the high-performance system-on-chip, the gateway supports agentic AI, customized user services, and smart home management on-device. The gateway also delivers broadband service with symmetrical 20 Gbps upstream and downstream speeds, a result of collaboration with Alphabet subsidiary gFiber.
Qualcomm also unveiled the Dragonwing SAM intelligent software framework, designed to strengthen communication network security and management systems. The framework integrates four major modules — device intelligence, service intelligence, security services, and cloud intelligence — responsible for terminal connection status monitoring, communication quality assessment and optimization, security threat defense, and fusion of external big data and AI analytics capabilities. Dragonwing SAM adopts an open software architecture, not limited to specific devices or chips, enabling flexible adaptation to various gateways and communication environments while supporting the execution of external software. Operators can thereby gain comprehensive visibility into the broadband communication environment and deliver high-quality, secure AI networks.
Qualcomm's wireless transport solutions boost communication efficiency
In addition, Qualcomm introduced the Dragonwing Multi-Point Access Platform and Point-to-Point Platform, both wireless transport solutions aimed at base station and communication infrastructure expansion. The Multi-Point Access Platform transmits signals from a central base station to multiple surrounding user receiver devices, providing high-speed internet access and serving as a distribution network. The Point-to-Point Platform establishes wireless links between base stations using high-capacity licensed spectrum, functioning as a backhaul transport network solution. Both platforms operate on Qualcomm custom millimeter-wave transceiver equipment and customer premises equipment, and employ a time-division multiple access scheduler to reduce latency, while featuring multi-standard frame synchronization technology to reduce interference between signals of different standards.
Qualcomm also introduced the next-generation fixed wireless access solution, the Dragonwing FWA Gen 6 Elite platform, which directly receives standard 5G wireless network signals from base stations to deliver high-speed wired and wireless internet indoors. The platform is based on the Qualcomm X105 5G modem and RF chipset, supporting 5G Advanced and non-terrestrial network capabilities. It also features tri-band Wi-Fi 8 and the fifth-generation Qualcomm 5G AI processor, enabling real-time adaptation to changing wireless conditions to maintain optimal communication quality, providing high-performance broadband access for remote areas.
