Google unveils Gemini 4 Carbon model, enhancing cybersecurity and programming capabilities

Google officially announces the launch of its latest model, Gemini 4 Carbon, which is its most powerful model yet, featuring advanced cybersecurity functions and long-term execution capabilities.

Performance Improvements of Gemini 4 Carbon

According to Google, Carbon ranks first in the latest AI index v5.0 with a score of 59. It shows significant growth in coding and agent tasks, achieving a leading position in critical cybersecurity defense capabilities, particularly in finding vulnerabilities in SEC-bench Pro (88.2%), exploits in ExploitGym (54.8%), and patches in CWE-bench (71.0%).

"Carbon has driven strong improvements in generating secure code and has shown reduced mismatch and hallucination rates in our team's real-time coding environment."

Phased Rollout to Ensure Security

Google stated that it will adopt a planned rollout approach and actively participate in the U.S. government's voluntary pre-release model testing process. Starting this week, Carbon will be made available to select cybersecurity defenders and will gradually expand access to other trusted partners through the Fairwind program.

"We are continuously collecting feedback and iterating on security measures before making Carbon available to developers, enterprises, and consumers."

Enhanced Coding and Cybersecurity Capabilities

Gemini 4 Carbon is designed to tackle more challenging long-term engineering problems, with internal teams observing that Carbon can run continuously for days, handling complex multi-step engineering tasks such as root cause analysis and patching subtle bugs in large codebases and low-level systems.

"Carbon has achieved advanced performance in the cybersecurity defense lifecycle, including vulnerability detection, validation, and remediation."

Upcoming Pricing and Availability

Gemini 4 Carbon will launch at the same entry price as Argon, with a cost of $2 per million input tokens (approximately HKD 15.6) and $10 per million output tokens (approximately HKD 78).

Google is optimistic about the launch of Gemini 4 Carbon and hopes to bring substantial advancements to software engineering and cybersecurity defense without compromising security or reliability.
