Google launches Gemini app for Windows platform

Google has officially announced the release of its new Gemini app for the Windows platform, allowing users to receive AI assistance directly from their desktop with simple keyboard shortcuts.

Introduction to Gemini app features

Users can now download the Gemini app and use the Alt + Space shortcut to get instant AI assistance without leaving their current workflow. The app is designed to work seamlessly and does not affect computer performance.

“Today, we’re launching the Gemini app for Windows to seamlessly collaborate with users’ favorite tools and everyday applications, providing instant assistance without interrupting workflows.”

Three main usage modes

The Gemini app offers three main usage modes to help users boost productivity:

First, users can press Alt + Space at any time to quickly summon Gemini, whether they need a quick fact-check on a document or are looking for an engaging title for a presentation. They can get the help they need and immediately return to work.

Second, the app provides a dedicated workspace for users to focus on complex tasks. Users can assign multi-step tasks to Gemini Spark, a 24/7 personal AI assistant, or ask Gemini to extract information from Google apps like Gmail and Google Drive to write project summaries.

Finally, users can also create images and videos directly from the desktop to bring creative concepts to life. They can use Nano Banana to generate custom images or Gemini Omni to guide high-quality video production, all in one convenient place.

“This lightweight app doesn’t slow down your computer when running. This is just the beginning for the Gemini app on Windows, with more native desktop features to come.”
