According to the latest reports, Elon Musk will participate in the X Takeover event at Giga Texas in Texas this Saturday and conduct a live-streamed interview. The news was shared by Sawyer Merritt on Thursday evening. Musk will not appear in person on stage in Austin; the interview will be streamed for free via the @teslaownersSV X account. Organizers are keeping expectations measured. Tesla Owners Silicon Valley noted in a September update that Musk had appeared at the event twice before but did not guarantee a third appearance, though fans still hope he will tour the Giga Texas facility in person.
This virtual interview mirrors the 2024 event, when Musk gave a surprise interview of about an hour in San Luis Obispo, which drew widespread coverage. This year's X Takeover marks several firsts: it is the first X Takeover held outside California and the first hosted at a Tesla facility, with tickets selling out in eight days. Although Tesla is providing the venue, the event is independently produced by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley. The main program runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central Time, followed by a drone and light show at 9 p.m.
Maye Musk will deliver a keynote address, Franz von Holzhausen will give a virtual keynote, and Nicki Minaj will appear as a special guest. Joe Tegtmeyer is also on the speaker lineup; his drone footage has been used by Teslarati to track the steel framework of the Optimus factory at Giga Texas. While the topics for Musk's interview have not been disclosed, the backdrop is busy. Tesla doubled its Cybercab fleet in Austin at the end of September, and last week Musk explained why Robotaxi operating hours were extended only from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Merritt also reported Thursday that Texas Department of Motor Vehicles records show registered Cybercabs increased from 169 to 319. The NHTSA's deadline for a formal response to Tesla regarding Cybercab certification is October 30, and Tesla will report third-quarter earnings on October 21. Fans unable to attend in Austin can watch the livestream on X. Musk tends to be more expansive in off-the-cuff remarks, making Saturday's interview worth tuning in for.
As Tesla continues to innovate in autonomous driving and electric vehicles, this event will undoubtedly further enhance its market influence and showcase its future growth potential.
