Anthropic Announces Support Program for U.S. Scientific Research

Anthropic officially announced it will invest $150 million over the next three years to support U.S. scientific research, with the funding directed to the Genesis Mission, a federal initiative aimed at accelerating scientific and technological discovery through artificial intelligence. The funding will enable Claude to serve more than 15 institutions participating in the program, including NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.

Strengthening Support for U.S. Scientists

Anthropic stated: "We share the government's view that artificial intelligence can have a profound and positive impact on scientific discovery, and we are delighted to support the efforts of U.S. scientists."

"Our commitment aims to help them meaningfully advance their work using Claude."

Over the next three years, Anthropic will provide Claude, Claude Code, and API credits to several hundred Genesis Mission research projects, and will work closely with agencies and national laboratories to support government scientific priorities, including fusion energy and quantum computing.

Efforts to Accelerate Scientific Research

This commitment is part of Anthropic's broader effort to support scientific research. Previously, Anthropic launched Claude Science, an AI workbench integrating the tools and packages most used by researchers, and offered 10,000 free and discounted Claude seats to academic scientists. In addition, Anthropic expanded the AI for Science program, providing credits to researchers on high-impact projects, and launched a research preview of the Model Hardware Standard, a shared specification for AI agents to safely operate laboratory instruments.

Expanding Cybersecurity Verification Program

Anthropic also announced an expanded cybersecurity verification program, offering qualified security professionals advanced cyber capabilities and reduced-refusal classifiers. Furthermore, Anthropic plans to invest $100 million by the end of 2027 to train 10,000 engineers to address the enterprise AI talent gap.

These initiatives demonstrate Anthropic's firm commitment to advancing scientific research and technological development, and provide significant support to U.S. scientists.
