Anthropic has officially announced an invitation for members of the life sciences community to apply for a special project, seeking proposals from principal investigators and their research teams at academic institutions, non-profit organizations, or government laboratories to utilize Claude to explore key issues in causal human biology, structural and computational molecular biology, medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, and clinical science.
Collaboration Model for Guest Researchers
According to the announcement, guest researchers will collaborate directly with Anthropic's researchers for a period of 8 to 12 weeks to investigate questions of interest and produce analyses, results, and tools that are most beneficial to their work. The Anthropic team will operate its models and tools free of charge.
“We will jointly publish these results and make the relevant data and code available.”

Data Rights Protection for Research
Guest researchers retain rights to their data throughout the project and have rights to any independent follow-up research that may arise from the collaboration. Applicants must clearly explain how they will benefit from direct collaboration with Anthropic researchers and reasonably demonstrate that their outputs (such as preliminary findings, answers to unresolved questions, open datasets, or public resources) can be produced within the 8 to 12 weeks of collaboration.
“We hope to see proposals that can produce some preliminary evidence in a relatively short timeframe.”

Application Process and Future Plans
Applications will be open for approximately 14 days, and Anthropic will notify selected participants via email about 14 days after the application deadline. This initiative is one of several efforts by Anthropic to invest in the life sciences and the broader scientific research community, with hopes to further expand this effort in the future.
Additionally, Anthropic encourages scientists to apply for its life sciences validation program to gain direct access to its most powerful publicly available models and supports researchers through the AI for Science program by providing Claude credits to accelerate the pace of scientific discovery.
