Alipay Launches "Intelligent Agent Emergence Award," Investing Millions Annually to Seek Innovations in Lifestyle Smart Services
At the 2026 Inclusion Bund Summit, Alipay announced the establishment of the "Intelligent Agent Emergence Award," with an annual investment of 10 million yuan. The aim is to accelerate the development of the intelligent service ecosystem and discover useful and entertaining lifestyle smart services, with the top annual prize reaching 1 million yuan. Starting from September 10th, users can swipe right in the Alipay app and say "Intelligent Agent Emergence Award" to Alipay's virtual assistant, A Bao, to learn about the competition details and sign up. Developers do not need to write code, as they can build applications through natural language, using various VibeCoding creation platforms like Qmuse. Upon入围or winning, in addition to cash rewards, mature market-oriented works can be integrated into A Bao to serve its 1 billion users and engage in continuous operation. 蚂蚁集团 CEO Han Xinyi believes that the爆发of intelligent agents beyond the eight-hour workday is an inevitable trend. Alipay hopes that through the Intelligent Agent Emergence Award, it can facilitate a supply-demand cycle where "intelligent service supply" meets "fragmented life demands," thereby building an intelligent agent ecosystem for the AI era, beyond the existing mini-program ecosystem.

Intelligent Agent Emergence Award Aims to Activate Supply-Demand Ecosystem

Intelligent agents are inevitably moving towards broader life scenarios, and the supply-demand ecosystem awaits activation. The announced "Intelligent Agent Emergence Award" has three characteristics: First, the participation threshold is low; Second, it is mainly oriented towards life scenarios outside the eight-hour workday; Third, it can complete the commercialization闭环 from development to distribution. Individual developers do not need to write code and are not restricted to specific development tools, as they can use various VibeCoding creation platforms (such as Qmuse) to generate applications through direct dialogue. Business developers can access the Alipay AI Open Platform to choose development methods as needed.

Alipay will also gradually open platform capabilities such as payments, security, and data to provide developers with market-oriented intelligent resources. To encourage users to propose demands, the competition also offers corresponding incentives. Ordinary users can participate in "Wish-making," stating a real and worthwhile demand, which may be realized by developers and could also be selected for the quarterly "Golden Idea Award," earning a 2,000 yuan cash reward. In terms of creation direction, the award provides two major scenario guidelines: "Life Assistant" and "New Consumer Experience." The former is oriented towards individual developers, providing long-tail services based on user needs; the latter is aimed at business and institutional developers, encouraging them to upgrade intelligent services based on business scenarios and offer more imaginative consumer experiences.

According to the competition rules, the schedule is divided into quarterly入围and an annual grand prize. The first round of registration starts on September 10th, and Alipay will select入围works quarterly, announcing the annual Emergence Award winner in the fourth quarter of 2027.

A Bao's Intelligent Service Ecosystem Continues to Expand

Li Jun, president of the Alipay Business Group, stated that intelligent agents are inevitably moving towards broader life scenarios, and the supply-demand ecosystem awaits activation. The purpose of establishing the Intelligent Agent Emergence Award is to prosper the intelligent agent ecosystem. With the advent of the intelligent agent era, a large number of small, marginal, and personalized demands will be激发, such as combining menu items that are not originally on the menu based on calorie, protein, and taste requirements; ordering takeout while driving; or pet-friendly周边tourism planning, etc. These demands may not be large enough, but they are real enough and require the participation of more individual developers, businesses, and institutions to continuously create new intelligent services based on personal experience沉淀, platform tools, and open capabilities.

As more and more real demands are solved by intelligent agents, intelligent agents will move from a few头部products to thousands of industries, and the new AI economy will truly begin to emerge. As the builder and入口of the intelligent agent ecosystem, since Alipay launched the AI version of Alipay "A Bao" in June, its service ecosystem has continued to expand and has undergone another round of large-scale upgrades. "A Bao" has now completed AI adaptation for more than 10,000 services, covering 12 categories of life services such as catering, wine and travel, pets, and citizen services. It can also协同with intelligent agents such as Ant A Fu and employment intelligent agent Xiao Ye to complete professional tasks like "ask about health" and "find part-time jobs" in one sentence.

On the other hand, "A Bao" is moving out of Alipay and into more intelligent terminals. Recently, the cross-terminal collaboration between Xiaomi's Super Xiao Ai and A Bao was first publicly implemented, allowing users to call on A Bao's life service capabilities by telling Xiao Ai their needs. Currently, A Bao has achieved cross-terminal interconnection with 5 mainstream mobile phone brands and 16 automotive brands such as Li Xiang and BYD, and has reached designated cooperation with more than 60 automotive brands. Emerging terminals such as smart glasses, watches, and large model applications are also gradually being connected. As a result, A Bao is starting to transform from a "clerk" in Alipay to an omnipresent intelligent agent that can connect different services and intelligent terminals across applications and devices. This also means that the intelligent services of businesses, institutions, and individual developers can be distributed to different terminals through A Bao.

The service depth of A Bao is also being upgraded: new service labels improve the fulfillment chain, and service progress can be queried and managed; a new "asynchronous task" capability is added, allowing AI services to shift from immediate satisfaction to long-term delegation. Take the "Coffee Alarm" jointly launched with Starbucks as an example. Users only need to say once, "Help me buy a Starbucks iced Americano at 10 o'clock every day," and A Bao will remember this. At the appointed time, A Bao will initiate the service, which is then confirmed by the user and completed with payment. Once set, the service is initiated on time and is fully controllable. With the evolution of its own capabilities and the繁荣ecosystem stimulated by the "Intelligent Agent Emergence Award," the intelligent world connected by A Bao will continue to grow.
